Publish Share Whole
Whole screen
By default your whole screen is sent as a screen shot to the server, whatever its resolution. At the Subscriber end the screen will be rescaled to the dimensions of the Subscriber’s screen. The resolution being sent is shown beside the Set button in for format of the top left corner down to the bottom right corner.

Refresh every
This setting describes the frequency that screen shots are taken and sent to the server. Depending on the computer and the network speed most computers cannot capture and send a full resolution screen in less than 5 seconds. The computer may slow too much and become less responsive if this setting is too frequent. In this case set the refresh interval to a larger amount.

Option
  • Once screen sharing is started you can click the Pause button to stop sending screens if it is slowing the computer too much or the screens are not changing frequently.
  • Even while the screen sharing is paused you can send one screen by right-clicking the Comments list and choosing ScreenSnap Current image. You can use this to create a discrete set of screens for download and conversion into a movie as a presentation.
  • The ScreenHaven application does not need to be at the foreground or visible to run. You can even run a full screen PowerPoint or Keynote presentation although the Comments window will no longer be visible.
  • It is possible to create a set of screens that are mixed amongst whole and partial screens or of different resolutions. These will be available for saving later in their set resolutions. Note that while saving screens later will keep then in their native resolution, saving the screens as a movie file will always be at 1024 x 768 pixels.

Screens to keep
This setting tells ScreenHaven how many of the latest screens to keep in the server. As members are Subscribing to a set of screens they are downloading and keeping those versions on their computer. The server no longer needs to store the older screens. You can increase the number of screens kept on the server so that even it a person is late to a meeting they will have all the screens available for viewing.

Warning: setting the Screens to keep too high will consume more server drive space, so if you do increase this setting you may also want to increase the time between refreshes or perform manual refreshes. The other problem is that when a late person joins the meeting their Subscription will download all the latest screens which may take some time and a lot of bandwidth.

Publish Share Portion

Portion of screen
Many people don’t need or want their whole screen to be captured. If you are presenting from just one document then click the popup and choose Portion of screen. A semi-transparent window will appear and the menu bar will disappear. Position this window over the area you want to send to the server including the menu bar if desired. Any selection outside the screen borders will show as black. Click OK to save these settings.

Options
  • The screen coordinates will show on the transparent window as it is dragged about.
  • Dragging the slider left will make the window more transparent. This may help better determine what area to share.

Publish Share Mouse

Follow Mouse
If you will be focussing on many parts of the screen, but don’t want to capture the whole screen, you can set the popup to Follow Mouse. The coordinates will change to show only the location of the mouse pointer. When screen sharing is started a box 500 x 500 pixels centred on wherever the mouse point is located will be sent to the server.

Options
  • You may want to position your text cursor in the Comments box and the mouse on the portion of the screen that is being discussed.
