Exporting

Export

Exporting is a useful way of backing up particular projects from DocHaven without affecting DocHaven itself. You may want to export only the latest versions to a DVD, memory stick or iPod is a simple form of backup.
  • Choose Export… from the File menu (command-E on Macintosh or control-E on Windows or Linux).
  • Click the checkboxes for any condition(s) you want to set noting that all conditions must be true for a Project to be found.
  • Click the Find button. Any projects meeting the conditions will be shown in the list. If there are one or more projects found the Export button will be enabled. The total approximate size of the exported files will be displayed below.
  • Choose whether you want the Latest Version Only or All Versions to be exported.
  • Click Export and choose a folder in which to store the exported documents. All your documents will be downloaded into that chosen folder so ensure there is enough space to hold all the files.
Options
The Owner is greyed out as users can only export their own Projects. The Administrator can export any user’s Projects.
Click ‘…And Decompress’ to expand the exported projects after exporting. Note: you cannot export all versions and set decompression on since Projects all share the same uncompressed folder name. Export all versions compressed then decompress them manually.
Exporting can be really useful for finding a specific update of a document with a Project version. Export all versions to the desktop and uncompress them manually until you find the version you need. Then either use the Previous command to take out that Project or, alternatively, take out the latest project and drag the correct update of these files into this latest folder.
Note that if a project is currently out, the latest version on the server is exported which might not include the latest changes.
If you want to back up every one of your Projects it is simpler to use the Backup option.
