Marking Clients is used when you want to perform an Action on a subset of your Client database. It saves you having to scroll through pages of Clients and highlight them, trying not to accidentally unhighlight the lot by pressing the wrong keys. The Marked and the Quick Contacts columns are always the first two columns. Beware that performing Actions on Marked Clients perform that action immediately and cannot be undone. While there are no marked clients the Actions button is greyed.
Set Marked
If you want to set just one Client as a Marked Client then ensure the Marked check box for that Client is checked by clicking on it. If you want to set multiple Clients as Marked then highlight them (using the shift, command and control keys if necessary) and click the Mark button below.
Turn off Marked
If you want to turn off just one Client as a Marked Client then ensure the Marked check box for that Client is unchecked by clicking on it. If you want to turn off multiple Clients as Marked Clients then highlight them (using the shift, command and control keys if necessary) and click the unMark button below.
Turn off All Marked Clients
To clear all Marked Clients immediately, click the Options button and select Clear All Marked Clients.
Options
It is advised to Options-Clear All Marked Clients before selecting a new set of Marked Clients. This is in case there are Marked Clients off-screen that will be inadvertently updated. After you have Marked all the Clients you want, choose the Options-Show Only Marked Clients to display every and only those Clients that you are about to perform an Action on.
Note that it is possible to have Marked Clients that are not current shown on-screen e.g. you can perform three searches Marking every found client and the total number of Marked Clients will be the aggregate of all three searches even though only the Clients from the last search are shown on screen. Remember to show the marked clients.
When you perform an Action, only the visible (somewhere in the current list, even if off-screen) Marked Clients are affected. Unmarked rows are ignored, even if they are highlighted.
You can widen the Marked column by dragging the column divider.
When you set a Client as Marked or as a QuickContact, those values are saved to the server so you can access them again from another computer.
It is advised to Options-Clear All Marked Clients after you have finished your Action.
